7. My Name Is Nobody (1973)
Directed By... Tonino Valerii
Secretly Directed By... Sergio Leone Unless you're a dedicated spaghetti western nut like me, the likelihood is that you haven't even heard of Tonino Valerii or his movie
My Name Is Nobody. You probably have heard of Sergio Leone, though, whose
Dollars trilogy made Clint Eastwood an international star and launched marked the Italian director as most creative filmmakers of the '60s. Despite being the executive producer on
My Name Is Nobody, Leone wasn't credited. And apparently he wasn't credited for another job that he did on the movie, too - that of director! That's to say, Leone's trademark style is apparent throughout the entirety of
My Name Is Nobody, almost as if Valerii is purposely trying to imitate it for the entire picture. It makes far more sense, then, when you learn that Leone did in fact direct some of the scenes in the movie for real. Some sources even claim he directed half of the picture.
