Alan Taylor wasn't the only one, it seems, who had a poor time of it making Thor 2. One of his stars - namely Natalie Portman - was just as miffed making the film as Taylor was, and part of it was down to Taylor being there in the first place.

Having been burned once during pre-production of passion project Jane Got A Gun, which saw original director Lynne Ramsay ignominiously sacked, Portman was probably looking forward to working with one of those rare women that Hollywood actually allows to direct its projects. Then Patty Jenkins - hired at Portman's behest - was fired from Thor: The Dark World, and Portman reportedly lost her cool with Marvel.

The Hollywood Reporter claimed in mid-2012 that Portman was losing enthusiasm for acting, and it was only the presence of Jenkins on Thor 2 that got her excited for the project; when Jenkins got the boot, Portman begrudgingly had to stay on due to contractual obligations. Perhaps that explains Portman's general look of disinterest in Thor 2, not to mention her conspicuous absence in Age Of Ultron...
