8 People Who Must Be Fired From The Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in a whopping eight movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon thus far, and though he's considered to be a definitive part of the franchise as a whole, his character - former S.H.I.E.L.D. boss Nick Fury - feels less and less important to the future of the MCU with each added instalment. That's to say, Nick Fury doesn't really have a place in the MCU right now, and his last appearance - in Avengers: Age of Ultron - felt ham-fisted and unnecessary: a "Hey, look - it's Nick Fury!" moment for the sake of it. Essentially, then, this character seems to have served his original purpose - to unite the Avengers. Now what? Samuel L. Jackson has one movie left in his original contract, of course (oddly, he won't appear in Captain America: Civil War), but has expressed a desire to draw up a new contract with Marvel so that he might continue to play this character until the cows come home. But has the actor considered that maybe it's time to say goodbye to Nick Fury?
