8 People Who Must Be Fired From The Marvel Cinematic Universe

6. Brian Tyler

Brian Tyler's work as a composer within the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't bad, exactly - but it isn't all that progressive, either. Though his soundtracks are competent and synchronise well with whatever is happening on the screen, they're also somewhat forgettable: there are a lack of themes, melody, and memorable musical sequences. Whilst his score for Iron Man 3 was at least punchy and exciting, his work on Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron was noticeably lackluster. You don't come out of a movie scored by Brian Tyler humming any leitmotifs or eager to buy the soundtrack when you get home - pretty much a crime when it comes to superhero movies, surely? It's not like any of the other MCU composers have done much better when it comes to crafting memorable musical scores, but Tyler seems to have been positioned as the leading man in this regard. If only his musical was less functionary and more rousing! Can't Marvel hire somebody with the power to make movie scores memorable again?
