8 People Who Must Be Fired From The Marvel Cinematic Universe

2. Joss Whedon

Shock! Surprise entry, right? Yes, Joss Whedon has already stated that Age of Ultron will be his last film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but you never know - he could end up being pulled back to the series in the future, given the right set of circumstances (or the right superhero), most likely as a writer (he seems done with directing blockbusters for a while). But Marvel shouldn't let Whedon back, no matter what. He has, after all, spent the last few months airing his dirty laundry with regards to Marvel Studios. Whedon hasn't held back, either, and has offered up all kinds of anecdotes and stories about the making of Age of Ultron, and hasn't been afraid to blast the studio in the process (he also publicly criticised them for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. canon). It has admittedly felt a tad unprofessional - and somewhat unexpected, given Whedon's usual approach to such controversies. As a result, Marvel aren't too pleased with him anyway, and are probably somewhat relieved that he's decided to say farewell. Yes, he made some great contributions (despite the weirdness of Age of Ultron), and as a creative overseer, proved somewhat indispensable. But it's time for Whedon to move on for good, true to his word; the MCU drained him and induced a period of bitterness that did not look good on the director. Onwards and upwards, then - but not backwards.
