8 Really Stupid Plans Comic Book Movie Villains Tried

5. Lizard's Serum Would Only Last A Few Hours On The Whole City - The Amazing Spider-Man

The Plan: The bulk of the first act sees Dr. Connors experimenting with limb regeneration, due to his own arm being missing from the elbow down. He eventually creates a serum that works, with a catch; it transforms him into a human/lizard hybrid.

So, naturally, Connors decides he's going to unleash this serum on the entire city in the form of a toxic gas cloud, in an attempt to turn the population into a bunch of green, scaly beasts.

Why It's Stupid: At numerous points throughout the film, we see Connors turn into the Lizard, then turn back into a human again a short while later. So, at best, his evil plan to transform the city of New York into a city of Lizards will last... a few hours.

Surely he knows that, because he's the only test subject! All he'll accomplish with this scheme is the creation of a bunch of lizard-people for a short while, leading to increased media coverage and police attention on himself, making it more likely he'll be apprehended faster. Smooth.

It's not even like Connors is an idiot, either; he's shown to be a very smart, grounded man from his very first scene, which makes his sudden turn to an 'all-conquering villain with a big-scale destruction master plan' even harder to swallow.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
