8 Reasons 2016 Is The Best Time To Be A Movie Fan

2. Spielberg's Back!

Do you feel like there's been some magic missing from your life recently? Are you ready to have said magic restored in 2016? Good, because uncle Steven is here for you. Any new film directed by Steven Spielberg is going to be cause for excitement. That's just the way it is. The guy hasn't lost much of that directorial magic over the last 40 years, and though his plate tends to runneth over with undeveloped projects, once he actually chooses one to direct, he goes into it with a full head of steam. Based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name, The BFG should return to the childlike whimsy that Spielberg does exceptionally well. The story is, on the surface, as simple as any other Dahl premise: A young orphan girl named Sophie teams up with the titular giant to capture the other, more evil giants that eat humans. Can you imagine what Spielberg might have done with Willy Wonka or Matilda? Dahl's books are pretty much tailer-made for a guy like Spielberg, so there should be no doubt that the man who directed E.T. is going to kill it again this time around, particularly when he has a cast that includes Bill Hader and Jemaine Clement.
