No doubt one of the most appealing things about Batman V Superman is the fact that this version of the Caped Crusader is the one fans have been dying to see on the big screen for decades.

Tim Burton took the Dark Knight in his own unique and Gothic direction before the franchise descended into camp '90s madness with characters and costumes designed solely with the idea of selling toys in mind. While Christopher Nolan both saved and redeemed the Batman franchise, his version was grounded in realism and sacrificed much of what fans love about Bruce Wayne in the process.

Zack Snyder is clearly taking inspiration from the comics though, something which is immediately evident from the Frank Miller inspired costume. Then there's the Batmobile and wealth of gadgets (which were recently seen on display at Comic-Con), not to mention all sorts of rumours about how Batman will be mourning Jason Todd, something which again points to the source material playing a key role in this film.

The reason Marvel has been so successful is because they bring these characters to life in a way which works in the real world but still pays respect to who they are on the page. A Batman with those attributes will simply blow the likes of Captain America and Iron Man out of the water, ensuring that the Caped Crusader is the only hero people are talking about in 2016 (sorry, Superman).
