8 Reasons Deadpool Lives Up To The Hype (And 6 It Doesn't)
6. It Feels Part Of The X-Men Universe
One of the biggest surprises was that Deadpool well and truly feels like a movie within Fox's own prospective Marvel Cinematic Universe, mainly as it pertains to the X-Men (because screw Fantastic Four for now, right?) From early on in the movie as Deadpool meets up with Colossus (Stefan Kapii) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), we see glimpses of Xavier's School for Gifted Mutants and tons of references to Deadpool going to meet Xavier, and Colossus' desire for him to join the X-Men. Deadpool is naturally unsure about this though not totally against it, and the plethora of Wolverine nods also further teases a potentially awesome encounter between the two sometime down the line. Working out the logistics of placing an R-rated character in a PG-13 world is going to be tough, though the most likely solution seems to be placing X-Men characters in a Deadpool movie rather than the other way around. Time will tell, but this is a promising start indeed.
