8 Reasons Jurassic World Could Become The Highest Grossing Movie Ever
7. China Loves It
In the past decade China's gone from being a minor consideration to a key box office territory. It was their receipts that made the likes of Iron Man 3 and Transformers: Age Of Extinction such a success and, while it doesn't have any scenes specifically tailored to that mass demographic, Jurassic World's already proven to be a major success. Although much of the box office reporting tends to focus on the domestic totals, that's becoming increasingly less important in how studio's measure a success. A disappointment at the US box office can get a sequel on international receipts alone, meaning it's the global total that counts. And by far the biggest singular impact on that number is China. Over its first weekend Jurassic World made $80 million there alone, meaning China accounts for almost a fifth of the film's total box office. A FIFTH?! China doesn't even feature on Box Office Mojo's stats for the original and it's basically taking the new film from a admittedly massive success to an eye-wateringly phenomenon. Dinosaurs are a universal fascination - like superheroes (even ones called America) they conjure up excitement irrespective of national tendencies. So it's only really to be expected, but that doesn't really change the fact that World's success in this one territory will carry it even further into the record books.
