8 Reasons Splitting Batman V Superman In Two Would Ruin The Movie
2. You Don't Build A Series On A Two-Parter
Technically the DC Cinematic Universe is built on Man Of Steel, but with over two years between it and the next entry, it's fair to say Warner are treating Batman V Superman as the real jumping off point for their shared world. And that's where the two-parter issue is at its potentially most detrimental. To have an audience willing to jump on board a massive, multi-film idea you need to actually have an audience (see Marvel, or any of the previously mentioned two-parter films). Yes, Batman and Superman aren't unproven characters, but this dark and gloomy take, even in the wake of The Dark Knight, means they're far from familiar, while the Man Of Steel connections doesn't build a sense of quality you'd want to invest in. Marvel have managed to hide the obvious financial benefits of their Cinematic Universe model behind a quality product, but without anything to stand on DC just look like they're trying to get as much money as they can from their ill-thought out ideas.
