8 Reasons Triple 9 Could Be The Most Underrated Film Of 2016

Triple 9 is well worth your time.

Openingheist 1 Triple 9 - the latest film from director John Hillcoat and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Winslet - is a peculiar beast. Pushed back from September to February and with minimal marketing, concerns over the quality of the film have hung over it since the get go. As far as the critical reception is concerned, these concerns have been justified. Holding a paltry 54% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing this, you would not be blamed for believing that the film is not worth your time or money. How wrong you would be. Despite the synchronised cry of 'average' from the critics, the film is a misunderstood gem. Triple 9 is a heist thriller of the highest calibre, involving dirty cops, mercenaries and the Russian mob. It is brimming with double crossing, betrayal and violence all surrounded by stellar performances. Triple 9 possesses an enviable cast and an intriguing premise and the film has flown in under the radar and been dashed, incorrectly, into the 'ordinary' pile.
