8 Reasons Triple 9 Could Be The Most Underrated Film Of 2016

3. It Is Never Black And White

Morals 1

Triple 9 is not a 'likeable' movie, in that the majority of the characters are not particularly likeable. The triple 9 of the title is an unforgivable act of, and, aside from Chris Allen, none of the characters are out-and-out good guys. Honestly, this a film populated almost entirely by murderers, thieves and crooked cops all ready to betray or kill at a moment€™s notice.

Our main character, Chiwetel Ejiofor€™s Michael Atwood is a mean, morally corrupt centre to which all of the other leeches take hold. It is a grimy, vicious place inhabited by savages trying to live their corrupt lives who will step over anyone in their way.

It is not often we get a film with such detestable lead characters, and it makes for a refreshing change of pace. They are cowards, killers and conmen but this only helps the film to be even more endearing. There is no black and white here, just fifty shades of grey.
