8 Reasons Why Fans Should Be Worried About Spider-Man Joining The MCU

1. He'll Overshadow The Avengers

Ten years ago, characters like Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor were thought of as B-Listers by comic book fans. Sure, The Avengers was always an A-List team, but by themselves none of those heroes were really up there with the likes of Batman, Superman, and more specifically Spider-Man. For that matter, what were the Guardians Of The Galaxy a decade ago? Only two or three years ago, they were unknown to even a lot of fanboys. It's not clear exactly what role he will play, but it's known that Black Panther will first appear in Captain America: Civil War. Throw in what is sure to be a leading role for Robert Downey Jr., Captain America's hunt for The Winter Soldier, The Falcon, and any number of Avengers, and this is going to a solo movie which is just as packed as The Avengers and Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Oh, and then there's the whole "Civil War" part of the threequel's title. Where does Spider-Man end up fitting into all of this? If it's just a cameo, fine, but what if he takes on a leading role? From a fan perspective, that's an incredibly exciting prospect, and seeing him fighting with and/or against Captain America and Iron Man would be amazing. The downside is that the characters who Marvel do actually own may end up getting the short end of the stick. Hawkeye is someone who fans would love to see get more screen time, but what if he's now sacrificed to make room for Spider-Man? Does Spidey deserve to take preference when he's just a guest? Yes and no, but hopefully Marvel don't make the mistake of neglecting their own heroes to focus on the one who looks better on a poster. What do you make of Spider-Man joining The Avengers? Are you sceptical, or is it the best thing ever? Have your say down in the comments.
