8 Reasons Why Justice League Will Make Ben Affleck The Definitive Batman
3. He Is The Most Comic-Accurate Batman With A Complex History
From his dead Robin to his weary Alfred, this Batman has been around the block. As one of the few villains who can match Batman in a 1-on-1 fight, Deathstroke is a character who has a complex history with Batman. At this stage. it's still assumed that Deathstroke will feature heavily in Matt Reeves' The Batman and will probably make a cameo in Justice League, considering the Joe Manginiello’s screen test was during the movie’s production.
The trailer references run-ins with previous villains (Alfred says, “One misses the days when one’s biggest concerns were exploding wind-up penguins”); which means that if they show up in The Batman, which is rumoured to feature most of Batman’s Rogues Gallery, there will already be a history for the characters to build on.
This allows villains like fan favorite Red Hood to be introduced into the DCEU, and not knowing everything that this Batman has already been through creates intrigue, especially with Batman’s previous run-ins with the Joker, who was responsible for the death of Robin.
This Batman doesn’t need an origin story because previous franchises have already firmly established Batman's backstory and main villains in pop culture. And having an older Bruce Wayne allows him to take the leadership role in the Justice League.
