8 Reasons Why Miles Morales Shouldn't Be The Movie Spider-Man Yet
5. Peter Parker Is In The Civil War Comic
Spider-Man's first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be in next year's Captain America: Civil War, which is based on the very popular Civil War comic storyline that was published in 2006, long before Morales was even created. Peter Parker plays such a major role in the storyline that prior to the announcement of the Sony/Marvel deal to share Spider-Man many fans wondered how Marvel would adapt the storyline without featuring Spider-Man. Early reports suggested that Black Panther would be substituted for Spider-Man. While Black Panther is a popular character and will be portrayed by a great actor in Chadwick Boseman in Captain America: Civil War, he isn't on the popularity level of Spider-Man and would have been an inadequate substitute. While it is likely that Peter Parker's role in Captain America: Civil War will be very different from the way the character is portrayed in the film adaptation, since Sony and Marvel have made a deal to share Spider-Man in their movies it makes the most sense to use the version of Spider-Man in the Civil War comic storyline for the film adaptation.
