3. It Has Genuine Franchise Potential
It might just flourish if given a second chance- this could be Foxs Bond, its Bourne, its Jack Reacher. Youve got a cast and a director who are all willing to return, and its not exactly an experimental, auterial drama. It had the might of the Scott Brothers behind it, for chrissakes! (Although I imagine Tony would have had some more input than Ridley, if they gave more than their names to the production) OK, if we consider the first film was a misfire, theres every chance it will win people over a second time. For example, The Dark Knight and Hellboy II were pretty much greenlit off the back of hugely successful home video sales, which proved there was an audience who didnt catch it first time round who were obviously clamouring for more. And look how well they turned out! Im a strong believer in second chances, and The A-Team is a franchise that deserves a second chance, much more so than the thousands of young adult adaptation trying to ape Harry Potters success (I can name at least three coming out this year) If we look at it from a cynical perspective for a moment, this has all the makings of a big cash cow for the studio- based on a previously existent brand, merchandising potential, perhaps a TV series with a different cast- if its treated properly. Which brings me onto my next point
