8 Reasons Why The Terminator Franchise Is Dead

6. Neither Will The Right Actors

Christian Bale aside (though even he gave arguably his blandest performance to date in Salvation), this generation's great actors aren't exactly flocking to make Terminator movies. Where James Cameron had the pick of just about every male and female star in Hollywood when he made The Terminator, it doesn't seem like there's much interest from the acting community anymore. It's been getting progressively worse, starting with Terminator 3: Nick Stahl and a pre-Homeland Claire Danes didn't show off much but a general blah-ness in that movie, while Terminator Salvation squandered talents like Anton Yelchin and Bale while giving prominent roles to also-ran thesps like Sam Worthington and Moon Bloodgood. Then you get to Genisys, and realise Hollywood's best and brightest are simply opting to stay away. If Jason Clarke's visible display of potential in Zero Dark Thirty (his breakout movie) is beginning to feel like a very long time ago, at least he showed some - the same can't be said for the absolutely forgettable likes of Genisys's Emilia Clarke, Byung-hun Lee and Jai Courtney.
