8 Reasons Why The Terminator Franchise Is Dead

5. No More Schwarzenegger?

With the real acting talent seemingly unwilling to become part of the Terminator franchise, you have to rely a bit more on the great older cast members that any new movies stand to inherit. Michael Biehn's looking to make his return soon with Neill Blomkamp's Aliens movie, so he's shown willingness to tread old ground should a future Terminator movie come calling. However, easily the franchise's biggest asset - Arnold Schwarzenegger - isn't going to be around forever, and at 67-years-old there's no point counting on Austria's greatest import to keep playing action hero. Neither is Schwarzenegger going to waste time on further critical and box office bombs when he's still looking to make a real movie comeback. Future Terminator movies should be realistic: Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to need replacing, and soon, preferably before he hits his eighth decade. Whether producers can find a compelling alternative remains to be seen - Arnie is the Terminator, so what use would the Terminator franchise be without him?
