8 Reasons Why X-Men: Apocalypse Might Suck

8. The Cinematography

Whilst Bryan Singer and frequent collaborator Newton Thomas Sigel have made for a good team for years now, the Director of Photography€™s work in the recent trailer looked slightly iffy in points. Where it is appreciated that a lot of images have a comic book-esque €˜splash page€™ feel to them, it doesn€™t necessarily translate that well to film.

Case in point, the shots of the Horsemen gearing up for a showdown. The slow-mo shot of Archangel firing his flechettes is awful; Magneto gearing up to bring down metallic mayhem looks fake as hell; and the shot of Storm just has plain weird composition and perspective.

Although the shots are evidently incomplete, it€™s not apparent how much better they€™ll be when they come through the post-production phase. If they€™re an indication of what we can expect from the rest of the film, then it doesn€™t appear very inspiring.
