8 Reasons Why X-Men: Apocalypse Might Suck
8. The Cinematography
Whilst Bryan Singer and frequent collaborator Newton Thomas Sigel have made for a good team for years now, the Director of Photographys work in the recent trailer looked slightly iffy in points. Where it is appreciated that a lot of images have a comic book-esque splash page feel to them, it doesnt necessarily translate that well to film.
Case in point, the shots of the Horsemen gearing up for a showdown. The slow-mo shot of Archangel firing his flechettes is awful; Magneto gearing up to bring down metallic mayhem looks fake as hell; and the shot of Storm just has plain weird composition and perspective.
Although the shots are evidently incomplete, its not apparent how much better theyll be when they come through the post-production phase. If theyre an indication of what we can expect from the rest of the film, then it doesnt appear very inspiring.
