8 Reasons Why X-Men Origins: Wolverine Is Underrated
5. Liev Schreiber Is A Perfect Sabretooth
All of the outward, charming menace was dialled way, way down the first time we saw Sabretooth on film, back in the first X-Men (as played by Tyler Mane). Reduced to a growling beast, that incarnation completely missed the point of the character. Victor Creed as he exists in the comics is actually a highly-intelligent psychopath with a really sick sense of humour - the kind of guy you love to hate. Finally, with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, that's what we got - thanks to Liev Schreiber. Sure, he doesn't have the flowing blonde locks that we're used to with the comics, but the personality was all entirely there. Schreiber has always had the capacity to play dark and threatening (see: the first act of Scream 2). It's thanks to Hugh Jackman that he was up for the role, based on his recommendation, having worked together in... Kate & Leopold. An odd film in which to discover a potential candidate for the role of one of the all-time sick and twisted bad guys, but sure.
