5. Wolverine 3 Is Based On Old Man Logan, And That's A Dark Story
Old Man Logan is arguably the most famous X-Men story-line of all time, with good reason. It took a vast array of characters to a whole host of deep, dark places - and Wolverine was among them. The arc he's faced with across this 8-issue series is gripping, drenched in blood, and can only truly be captured by an R rated Wolverine 3. For starters, Wolvie slaughters pretty much every single one of his fellow X-Men while under a trance-like influence, causing him to flee and abandon his superhero persona completely. He then proceeds to decapitate Red Skull using Captain America's shield, and murders the entire Banner clan before killing the big guy himself - by bursting out of his stomach, Alien-style. If there's any aspect of that description that you think sounds child-friendly, then you should probably visit a psychiatrist. Just look at all the gory detail the comic-book provides - impalements, knife wounds, eyes gouged out - and it's clear that there's only one way this story-line can be faithfully recreated on the big screen.
Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
