5. Cartoon Caricature Amounts Of Drug Abuse

Of course we all know in the movie Montana ignores this little piece of immortal advice completely. That's no surprise - it's good storytelling. What's ridiculous about the drug usage in Scarface is the amounts of cocaine all the characters ingest. The funny thing about drugs is (shocker) some of them are extremely bad for you. Who would have thought it, watching Scarface towards the middle of the movie. Eventually it even seems as though Tony is having some sort of baking disaster, switching the flour out of a recipe with mountains of coke. You would think somewhere along the way someone would have stopped the creative process to interject, "Hey guys, maybe less is more. Perhaps we should dial it back since this much cocaine all at once would regularly kill an elephant." Apparently not, as Tony snorts lines comparable to that of his forearm. I don't even want to know how many gangsters died in real life trying to imitate him.
