7. John Connor (Terminator: Dark Fate)

For franchise fans, one of the big disappointments of this year's Terminator: Dark Fate was the offing of John Connor mere minutes into the movie.

As a film, Dark Fate was actually a mild return to form for this much-maligned franchise, yet one of the most intriguing, exciting aspects of the film was the return of Edward Furlong to a role he last played back in 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Even though John being killed on a Guatemalan beach wasn't what fans wanted to see, it's a move that has to stick. After all, so many of the problems that the Terminator franchise has created for itself over the past couple of decades revolve around the fact that timelines have been altered and existence has been changed up.

Dark Fate delivered the best Terminator movie since T2, and the good work that film has done in getting some fans back onside will only be maintained should the timeline of Dark Fate be the one that holds strong and true moving forward. And that means that John Connor has to remain dead.

It's still touch and go whether the planned further two outings for the the Terminator series will end up happening, but the death of this one-time saviour of mankind has to be a permanent arrangement if and when those films come to fruition.
