8 Ridiculous Coincidences That Made For Happy Movie Endings

7. Grandpa Just So Happens To Save The Day - The Lost Boys

We all wanted to be Corey Feldman in this film. Don't deny it. The Lost Boys is one of the definitive '80s flicks and the movie that put 24's Kiefer Sutherland on the map. It's also one of Joel Schumacher's films that didn't suck - Batman and Robin, anyone? He gave us leather; motorbikes; Jami Gertz's perm; and a killer stand-off pitting Corey Haim and Jason Patric against a gang of teenage vampire bikers. Unfortunately, the very ending, after David takes an antler through the chest, teeters on the implausible. When Max reveals he is the head vampire and leans in to take a bite out of Lucy's neck, the cantankerous Grandpa crashes through the side of the house in his truck, sprays sharpened logs across the scene and kills Max in a fiery explosion. Lucky nobody else was hurt, right? How did he know what was happening inside his home? And to burst in at that exact moment? I'm sorry, Schumacher... but our suspension of disbelief only stretches so far.

I love all things imaginative, from the page to the screen, and nurture a soft spot for Donald Sutherland and Daniel Bryan.
