6. Captain America: The First Avenger
After overuse by Jerry Bruckheimer, the colon is now the king of the blockbuster title. It logically avoids having the dreaded 2 appearing when the sequel rolls around and gives a chance to ease the audience into key plot points. It also means making title changes is incredibly easy. Because America isnt the most popular country in the world, the first part was dropped in Russia, Ukraine and South Korea, leaving the intriguing title The First Avenger. Obviously Captain America wont be as culturally significant in these regions as he is in the western world, but you cant help but wonder what happened once the film started and patriotism kicked in. If using America to promote a film was box office poison, having a film entirely about a guy called Captain America wouldn't go down well. Marvel probably didnt care if people had got that far, they'd already got their money. This isnt the only appearance of Marvel on this list, but this one at least makes some form of sense.
