Disney own Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and have done for a couple of years now. So where's a movie, or game, comic or whatever, that brings them together? Seriously Disney, stop trying to make dark reboots of your animated classics work (they won't) and get everyone working on this right now. Why a Marvel-Star Wars meeting would be totally awesome should be obvious. It's Star Wars. And Marvel. The kings of the blockbuster, the mainstream geek loves, the childhood obsessions of generations. To not capitalise on having full ownership of both is tantamount to being able to make Spider-Man movies, then just doing the origin story over and over. Looking at it rationally, there are some issues. Both franchises have their own distinct continuity so obsessed over by fans that to do this within either universe's canon would cause millions of voices to cry out in terror and Wookipedia to implode, but that doesn't mean this wouldn't work in some splinter form. After all, some of the most fun Star Wars spin-off material has been non-canon off-shoots (Darth Maul fighting Darth Vader, a sci-fi riff on Rosencrantz and Guildenstern) and obviously in their comic book source the same goes for Marvel. Thinking rationally, an officially endorsed meeting of these two series, even if done with real affection by a genre talent, would probably never go above being fan fiction. But what fan fiction would it be. Which other movie series should be brought together? Which of these ideas do you like, and which would suck? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
