8 Scenes That Would Have Ruined The Original Star Wars Trilogy

7. Han Tells Luke He'll Never Make It As A Jedi Knight - The Empire Strikes Back

Well, this isn't the Han Solo we all know and love, is it? In an early draft of The Empire Strikes Back, though, Han Solo was a far more unsavoury character than the one who appears in the final film. He's fed up with Luke for pursuing his dreams of being a Jedi, and at one point he even berates the poor kid, telling him that " never make it as a Jedi Knight," which is just plain mean and super discouraging. Clearly George Lucas realised that this brash and nasty attitude wasn't quite right for the Han Solo that fans adored in A New Hope, and the relationship between Luke and everybody's favourite scruffy-looking nerf herder was strengthened instead of made tense like it was in some of those early drafts. Han can be a bit of a jerk now and again, but this - this would have ruined the character outright for everyone, rendering him as a kind of bully.
