8 Sci-Fi Movies That Re-Used Props From Other Movies
2. Star Wars - A Bunch Of Recycled Dr. Who Props
Star Wars, as demonstrated earlier in this list, is no stranger to borrowing props from previous works. One recurring theme that can be seen in the original trilogy, however, is the use of props from original serials of Dr. Who.
After finishing production on the Dr. Who serial Death To The Daleks, many props, including several Dalek weapons fashioned from old Italian Military Firearms, were then returned to armourer Bapty & Co. A few years later, when searching for props for the upcoming production of Star Wars, George Lucas acquired several props from Bapty & Co., including these particular Dalek weapon parts. Though not seen in the final cut of the film, various production photos show the retooled weapon, and Ponda Baba's blaster appears to use some of the original Dalek components.
More noticeable is the outfit worn by Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk in The Empire Strikes Back. His horrible mustard yellow jumpsuit was first seen in 1966's The Tenth Planet, worn by an astronaut. These suits were, in fact, originally designed for the RAF as high-altitude pressure suits. Hardly surprising, considering how well-known Dr. Who itself was for its recycled props and sets.
