3. Magneto - Grinders

Whilst Magneto's abilities are probably beyond science for the time being, there are those who like to incorporate a bit of magnetism into their body modifications, and they belong to a community of mod enthusiasts called Grinders.

Grinders are interested in upgrading their bodies using technology, and one of the most popular "entry level" mods is the implantation of subdermal magnets. This allows them to not only pick up small metallic objects without grasping them (a good party trick), but also supposedly allows them to detect magnetic fields. Some even report being able to tell the difference between AC and DC currents.

These Grinders tend not to be medical professionals, and tend to carry out most of their modifications without anaesthetic either at home or in piercing parlours. Magnets are apparently just the start, and the boundaries of cyborgism are being pushed.

Granted, it's not quite as phenomenally powerful as Magneto, but it's a start.
