8 Science Experiments Inspired By Superheroes

2. Hawkeye - Super-Vision

Hawkeye does not appear to have any obvious superpowers, apart from, as the name would suggest, the eyes of a hawk. But what does that actually mean?

Hawks and eagles have exceptional eyesight that allows them to spot a cute little bunny from 2 km away with enough precision to turn it into lunch soon after. This is due to the higher density of light-detecting cone cells on their retinas giving them incredible night and colour vision, plus the ability to detect ultraviolet light.

Laser technology to fix errors in human vision is nothing new and works by manipulating the tissue of the eye to affect how light enters it. The technology could also potentially be used to not only correct poor vision, but enhance human vision beyond what is natural, using low laser irradiation, specifically Helium-Neon irradiation, to stimulate the growth of new photoreceptor cells, just like the hawk.

The effect would be like switching from 480p to 4k.
