8 Scrapped Horror Monsters That Would’ve Been TERRIFYING

2. Prometheus - Fifield’s Mutation

For Prometheus, two designs and plans were made for Fifield’s mutation, one inevitably being scrapped. In the eyes of many viewers though, the filmmakers scrapped the wrong one!

In the final cut of the film Firfield is found sitting weirdly on the ground, limbs in unnatural positions. On standing up we see that his helmet is smashed and his face is all wrinkly and textured, his head elongated slightly. Yes he looks weird, but he looks weird in an almost goofy way.

The deleted version of the scene offers a different take on the mutation, instantly made creepier by the elongated limbs folding around his body whilst he sits - reminiscent of a dead spider when all its long legs curl up. His face is zombie-like, with his mouth hanging agape as one eye bulges - white and apparently unseeing.

He retains all the strength he has in the final cut, but everything is executed in a way that causes that much more unease because of his lanky proportions. Looking closer to an actual Xenomorph, it makes more sense seeing him survive being shot and burned initially too.

This mutated Fifield is overall just… better.
