Before he was selling Lincolns, McConaughey was the brand ambassador for Dolce and Gabbana The One. Embodying the glamour of the golden age and mediterranean style, McConaughey teamed up with Martin Scorsese and Scarlett Johansson to sell the brand.
When the time came for Dolce and Gabbana to move onto a new fragrance, so too did they need a new face. As a model of male strength and sensuality, it was Colin Farrell who brought his looks to Intenso, brooding in black and white against seaside volcanic rocks.
It’s been established that Farrell has symbolically followed McConaughey up to this point but this would mark the second literal time that he would follow in his footsteps for a role. McConaughey kept the ambassador role for years, almost as if it were a bridge between his past and future, so if history is to be repeated, expect to see Colin Farrell in more shirtless ads and beautiful commercials that make no sense.
