8 Signs Colin Farrell Is The New Matthew McConaughey

If it weren’t for each actor’s casting in True Detective, these similarities might never have been picked up on. In retrospect, it seems almost fortuitous that this was the case, after all, it’s easy to argue that True Detective was the turning point for Matthew McConaughey.
To this point, he’d moved on from his past, re-asserted his skill and culminated it all by starring in one of the biggest drama series of the year. This was promptly followed by a run of hit movies in which he was back as the lead.
Colin Farrell has undoubtably met the first leg of McConaughey’s process and unless True Detective seriously dips in quality, he’s poised to be the star of one of 2015’s biggest TV series. Like a safe haven for actors trying to prove they still have it, the HBO series is centred on its main cast, giving them plenty of time to shine in front of a massive audience.
Joining True Detective was the culmination of all the work McConaughey and Farrell put into their revitalizations. It brought them back to the huge scale they’d left behind, but in a position to rectify the mistakes of their pasts. Whether or not Farrell follows it up with the same success McConaughey had remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that he’s done his best to try.
