I think this is very important to consider; the trailer for Ghostbusters isn't very good and that could stem from an inferior product, but there is always the chance this is just the mishandled start to the marketing campaign. After all, the first trailers for most big blockbusters go for the simple sell, setting up what the movie is in marketing shorthand (in this case, an all-female Ghostbusters reboot) rather than properly giving a sense of what the movie's actually about or what tone it's really going for. Take the ominous first looks for altogether more jokey affairs like Jurassic World and Spectre, or any one of Pixar's, which are all about the intriguing base concept (even if, as with The Good Dinosaur, that concept is almost incidental). Heck, the pervasive nostalgia that dominated The Force Awakens' marketing was only part of the forward-thinking Episode VII. With time travel and potential connections to the original, it's clear there's some defining parts of the movie being left out, and it's entirely possible we're in for a nice surprise come 15th July, with all this backlash another "Can you believe we thought that?" moment. Or it's going to be utterly terrible. Who knows? Do you think Ghostbusters will suck? Or could it be a worthy continuation of the franchise? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
