8 Smartest Decisions In Zombie Movie History

1. Concealing Human Scent - Warm Bodies

Shaun of the Dead
Summit Entertainment

Released in 2013, Warm Bodies is a relatively unique beast in the pantheon of zombie movies. Picking up seven years after the world fell victim to a zombie apocalypse, this Jonathan Levine-helmed offering largely tells its story from the perspective of a zombie named R.

Played by Nicholas Hoult, R's particular craving for human brains is so that he can feel more alive by experiencing the memories held within said grey matter. And when he eats the brains of Julia Grigio's boyfriend Perry, R begins to feel an attraction towards Teresa Palmer's Julia.

Where the smart decision comes in here, is moments after R devours Perry. Spotting Julia across the room, R realises that his fellow undead are setting their own eyes on the delicate delights of human flesh that Julia offers up. In a remarkable spark of smarts, R shuffles over to Julia and wipes some of his blood on her face - which in turn conceals her scent from the zombies who were previously sniffing her out for their next meal.

Not just did this prove clever in terms of preventing Julie from being killed, it also benefited both R and Julia in the long term, as R would eventually become human once more, and he and Julia would act on their romantic impulses as the zombie apocalypse came crashing down around them by the film's close.
