3. Against All Odds, A Beaten, Bloodied, Weakened Superman Saves Batman (and the rest of the world)
With potentially no moral support, beaten/broken/bloodied, and weakened by kyrptonite (or whatever else), Superman heads off to fight an enemy that has already beaten Batman, who beat him. In this part, we
need to see Superman taking the fight to a deserted area. We need to see Superman sacrifice his body to save what some might say are insignificant lives. We need to see Superman being a, well, superhero, with unflinching moral integrity. And for this reason, Superman is able to save the day. Much like Batman's faith in humanity in
The Dark Knight during the boat scene, we need to see Superman's heroic struggle pay off in a way that directly leads to the villain's defeat.
