Although Spider-Man will be a mostly self-contained story on a smaller scale than that of the team-up movies, this doesn't mean that fans will be lacking in references to dig out.
Whether it's as subtle as a picture of Bruce Banner or a mural featuring Howard Stark which adorn the high school science lab or as tongue in cheek as having bank robbers dress up as the franchise's heavy hitters, there will be reminders of the wider universe everywhere you look.
With Homecoming set mainly in New York, the fallout of the first Avengers movie will undoubtedly play heavily into the narrative. The crimes being committed in the trailer are likely to be heavily influenced by the past actions of Marvel's heroes.

Whether or not Spider-Man will be invited to join the Earth's Mightiest Heroes by the end of Homecoming isn't yet clear but Tony Stark's inclusion guarantees that not only will audiences see the Avengers' HQ, they will also gain a deeper insight into why Iron Man has taken a personal interest in Parker and how he will fit into the wider plan for Marvel's movies going forwards.
