8 Spider-Man: Homecoming Plot Spoilers We Already Know
6. Spider-Man Will Be Viewed As An Outlaw Vigilante
As if it wasn't enough that Spider-Man has to deal with Michael Keaton's Vulture and an assortment of other villains, he's also going to have to tangle with law enforcement. In a stand-out moment from the trailer (which also shows off his flying squirrel getup), Peter scales the Washington Monument while being pursued by a police helicopter.
This will be a direct result of public perception towards supers which was previously brought up via the Sokovia Accords in Civil War. There is a great deal of mistrust, which won't have been helped by a destructive hero on hero brawl at a German airport, and it's likely that Spidey's presence in the nation's capital will be looked on with a great deal of suspicion.
Tony Stark himself even urges caution against exposure when he tells Peter to leave off handling the Vulture, stating that there's 'people who handle this kind of thing'. Due to the shaky relationship he currently has with the rest of the Avengers, the US government and also taking into account his specific word choice, he is clearly referring to law enforcement as opposed to other heroes.
Being that vigilantism is central to Spider-Man's identity, it's very interesting to see how Marvel has created the circumstances that make this approach to crime-fighting necessary.
