8 Stories To Read Before The Beginning Of DC’s Cinematic Universe

6. Wonder Woman: Blood

Wonder Woman is a hard character to get right. DC has spent years and undergone various reboots with the character trying to find a way to restore Dianna€™s original glory. Through the years, Princess Dianna of Themyscira has undergone various retcons and reboots from numerous writers trying to better establish her character in the winder DCU. Well when the New 52 rolled around, DC gave writer Brian Azzerello and artist Cliff Chiang a shot at the property. Wonder Woman: Blood is the first story arc in the Azzerello and Chiang run, where they re-establish Wonder Woman as a mythological character, retcon her origin as a demigod and develop her supporting cast. This would be a great place to start for anyone who is unfamiliar with the character, as this run literally starts from square zero, requiring no previous knowledge of the character. In fact the entire run does not cross over with any other title in the DCU. For those who are interested in the upcoming film staring Gal Gadot this is an especially good place to start €“ not only for the aforementioned reasons but also because Zack Snyder has confirmed that the cinematic incarnation of Wonder Woman will have the New 52 Origin.
