8 Theories About Spider-Man's Role In Captain America: Civil War

1. It's Just A Glorified Cameo

There's been no sign of Spider-Man in any of the Civil War trailers or promo artwork. Furthermore Peter Parker, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, isn't an established hero; he's a 15-year-old boy, right at the beginning of being Spider-Man. Those things combined point in one direction: his role in Civil War will boil down to little more than a glorified cameo. He'll no doubt get to interact with the heroes, but really, it isn't a fair expectation to have him taking part in a war with people that not only he doesn't know, but are vastly more experienced than him. A 15-year-old Spider-Man holding his own against Captain America or Iron Man? Not really gonna happen. Even the 'lesser' heroes, say War Machine or Hawkeye, would have a significant advantage over him. So, yeah, the idea behind this one is basically don't expect too much from him. He'll appear in a few scenes, and have a small (but significant) role to play, and it accomplishes the task of both having a key character in Civil War, but also introducing the character before the 2017 solo movie. Agree with these theories or have one of your own? Let us know down in the comments.
