8 Things Avengers: Infinity War Did Better Than Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War was truly fantastic, but while audiences managed to leave their seats content with the six month gap for Doctor Strange, the same cannot be said about Infinity War. Fans are absolutely desperate to see where the story picks up next, so much so that Ant-Man and the Wasp, which isn't even set at the same time as Infinity War, stands to take on a whole other level of importance than it probably should do.

A lot of this comes from the fact Infinity War ends on a cliffhanger, but the reaction from audiences is plain for all to see. This film has genuinely affected people, and while it's equally true that the Russo bros' latest might not be as rewatchable as their earlier works, it's part and parcel of the film's salience within the context of the MCU.

It's a defining moment in the franchise, and while it's equally true that Civil War teased Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming, neither of those films promised the kind of scale of Infinity War, even if both of them were fantastic in their own right.

Ultimately, Avengers Assemble, Civil War and Infinity War represent three key milestones in this franchise, and while audiences should be mindful of recency bias, it's equally true that the franchise has evolved and grown as the years have gone by. It makes sense for there to have been a qualitative increase, and with Avengers 4 set to follow in Infinity War's footsteps, now - more than ever - is the MCU on everyone's mind.
