8 Things Avengers: Infinity War Did Better Than Captain America: Civil War

2. It Works Better As An 'Event' Film

Civil War might've been the Marvel event movie up until this year (Avengers Assemble aside), but Infinity War steals that vibe and runs with it relentlessly - as has been illustrated by the eye-watering box-office haul it managed to take in on its opening weekend.

At this rate, it's not even all that unreasonable to call it the biggest event movie of all time. It just beat The Force Awakens' opening weekend gross, and when you consider the kind of pull Star Wars has, the majesty of the Marvel Universe is only made more apparent.

Civil War was 2016's highest grossing film, meaning its status as an 'event' film is without question. Infinity War was just always going to be bigger though, and with its status as the most impactful MCU film yet now enshrined, Infinity War is the event to end all other events.

At least until Avengers 4 comes along...
