8 Things That Almost Happened In Indiana Jones Movies

3. Henry Jones Senior Goes To Heaven

Likee most Indiana Jones films, the Last Crusade went through numerous forms before it finally took shape, and the original script from The Color Purple scribe Menno Meyjes told a different story.

It was still a father-son adventure in which Indy and Sean Connery's Henry Jones Senior seek out the Holy Grail, but it played out differently, spanned other countries and dramatically deviated right at the end.

Instead of having the main players drink from the Grail in the final act, this version of the story had them all touch it. The villain disintegrates, but when Jones Sr places his hand on the sacred cup, it opens up a stairway to heaven and he willingly heads off to his eternal rest in paradise.

It sounds bittersweet, not to mention a little dumb, but at least they would have had the opportunity to stick some Led Zeppelin on the soundtrack.
