8 Things We Want From Halloween Kills
7. Less Attempts At Comedy
Although 2018's Halloween WAS a monster hit at the box-office and the most critically lauded entry for years, that doesn't mean the film is flawless. Although praised for its back-to-basics approach and strong performances, the main complaint was the film tried just a little too hard to be funny.
Whilst it is undeniable that humor in a horror film is pretty essential or they'd all be rather grim affairs, the consensus was that Halloween's quips were somewhat poorly timed and... well, rather juvenile.
Be it cringe worthy lines about "peanut butter on my penis," or a foul-mouthed child breaking a very tense sequence, many felt that the comedic attempts left scenes feeling uneven and robbed them of tension and believability.
One of the biggest hopes for the upcoming Halloween Kills is that the filmmakers have taken these criticisms on board. The hope being that Halloween Kills will dial back the misplaced attempts at comic relief or at the very least adopt a more subtle style to any humorous moments they may include in the story.
With the film being touted as "dark" and "gritty," audiences are hoping for a ride that sustains its tense moments rather than spoiling the atmosphere with an ill-timed quip.
