4. He's Got A Great Sense Of Humour
When most people think of Mads Mikkelsen they think of the cold, steely characters that he plays, impenetrable enigmas that exude threat out of every pore.
The man behind the characters, however, is very different. Mikkelsen is relentlessly funny, spicing up interviews and press junkets by endlessly joking. When asked how he prepares for the role of Hannbal, for example, he stated that he doesn't eat so he's constantly hungry.
When winning the award for Best Actor at the Cannes film festival in 2012, Mikkelsen took the stage and in enviable French declared he couldn't speak French unless he'd been drinking, which sadly he hadn't been. There's also a great video in which Mikkelsen swaps roles with the Hannibal character Jimmy Price in order to promote the show, which is just as funny as it sounds.
