8 Things You Need To Know About The Leaked Deadpool Test Footage

7. Ryan Reynolds Did The Motion Capture Work For Deadpool

While many fans believed that comedy actor (and future Green Lantern) Ryan Reynolds was a great choice to play Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the overall consensus was that the movie€™s script did not correctly portray the fan-favourite superhuman mercenary, something that Reynolds, who is a Deadpool fan, agreed with. It's obvious that we're listening to Reynolds' voice in the test footage as Deadpool wisecracks his way through fighting the bad guys, so Reynolds did have the chance to play Deadpool as we all know and love him. However, since Deadpool's face is entirely covered some speculated that it wasn't actually Reynolds under the mask. As it turns out, Liefeld confirmed that not only is it Reynolds but the entire character was done by motion capture. Believe it or not, the Deadpool in this footage is a CG character done by motion capture €“ much like the apes in Fox's recent Planet of the Apes movies. The footage looks incredibly crisp, and this was filmed three years ago! Just imagine how much better the effects could look if this footage was produced today with a feature film budget.
