8 Things You Need To Know About The Leaked Deadpool Test Footage

8. It Was Shot Three Years Ago

Just because we're getting our first glimpses at this Deadpool test footage now doesn't mean that this was produced recently. In fact, this footage was created in summer 2011 by Tim Miller, a visual effects artist who has worked on X-Men and X-Men 2, among many other films. Miller was tapped by Fox to make his directorial debut with Deadpool with a script written by G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (similarly, a draft of the Deadpool script by Wernick and Reese leaked online in October 2013). This footage was created by Miller as a demo to show Fox executives what the visuals and tone of a Deadpool film would be like. In the three years since Fox has yet to move forward on the promises offered by this footage. In the meantime, Miller has worked on the effects of other movies, including creating the pre-credit sequence for Thor: The Dark World. As far as we know, he is still attached to direct the Deadpool movie if it ever moves forward.
