8 Things You Need To Know About The New Pixar Movies

5. Pixar Did Extensive Research About The Brain For Inside Out

Whilst the likes of Toy Story, Monster's Inc, and Up all examined the innocence of small children and their wild imaginations, Inside Out takes a slightly different turn in shifting away from the focus of little kids, and opting to occupy the mind of a tween girl who's precariously balanced between childhood and teenage tendencies. Inside Out's lead character Riley has a mind which is ripe for emotional turbulence, as she struggles to come to terms not only with an awkward period in her life, but also adapting to a new environment in San Francisco. In their attempts to depict the emotions that control the mind of Riley, Pixar screenwriters and producers delved deep into extensive research about the human brain and the way in which it operates. They conducted interviews with psychologists, examined how emotions within the brain can override one another, and also how the mind ends up prompting particular facial expressions. With all this considered, there's a chance you'll not just have a good time watching Inside Out, but you'll probably learn something about the human mind too.
