8 Times Hollywood Didn't Care What You Think

Ever since Heath Ledger defied all expectations and gave us one of the best Jokers of all time, Hollywood has tried this "unique casting" approach multiple times. A notable "...what?!" reveal was Jesse Eisenberg being tapped to play Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman... even though the mighty Bryan Cranston was also in the running.

Though the latter was definitely fuelled more by fans than marketing or interviews, Zack Snyder did reveal that they considered Bryan for the role, noting he "would have been great", and that he's "an amazing actor".

Well... yes. Yes, Mr. Snyder. It really was staring you in the face, wasn't it?

Cut to the official announcement of Eisenberg getting the role after all, and not only did fans lose their minds, but anyone taking a cursory glance at any picture of Lex before comparing it to Jesse would see the two were universes apart.

Maybe Hollywood needs to accept that Heath Ledger was lightning in a bottle, and actively trying to replicate his chemistry will always result in a laughing stock?
